Need some shiny new trophies for your office? The Digitals have arrived. Launched yesterday in London, The Digitals is a new global awards program jointly created by Econsultancy and new media age for the digital marketing and ecommerce industries worldwide.

Previously, participants were competing through either the nma Awards or the Econsultancy Innovation Awards to achieve industry recognition. Econsultancy CEO Ashley Friedlein says that “Econsultancy and nma have both run separate awards in the past and we’re really excited to be joining forces to create a definitive awards program for the industry. We feel The Digitals will match the growing maturity of the industry.”

The awards will draw the best of the best from around the globe. It will be a sparkling display of social media maestros, web analytics aficionados, multichannel masters, sage search marketers, mobile marketing connoisseurs and ace media buffs.

The Digitals asks people to prove they are the best of the best in campaign effectiveness, innovation, brand impact, or ‘just sheer brilliance’.

If agencies can show that campaigns over the past year increased long-term business objectives and used new approaches or technology to produce exceptional results, they may well be on the receiving end of a Digital this year. Judging will be done by an expert panel from around the world which is yet to be disclosed.

Industry categories include automotive, B2B, charity and non-profit, consumer products and services, financial services, media and entertainment, retail, plus travel and leisure.

Platform categories aim to find a winner that exemplifies the best use of a particular medium, including email marketing, mobile marketing, rich media and video, social media, plus others.

In addition, three special categories will uncover innovative uses of technology in ecommerce and digital marketing, the best young rising talent, and an overall champion and winner of The Digitals Grand Prix.

The Digitals will culminate in an awards ceremony in London on the 27 June 2013, but those interested in getting a head start can begin to monitor The Digitals leaderboard to see what is being said about the awards on social media channels.

The entry deadline is Wednesday 13 March 2013, and entry fees are £250 GBP / $400 USD / $380 AUD for each category entered.
